Montgomery County’s wooded acreage is currently being reassessed under the Wooded Acreage Transition Law, enacted in 2007 but only implemented throughout the entire the county in 2024. Brandi Lentz, Designated Managing Broker of MCR, has been a strong advocate for fair treatment of property owners and has actively challenged the county’s delayed application of this 17 year old law. This week, the County Board Chairman shared encouraging news: property owners may temporarily avoid higher assessments by providing evidence that they are actively working to enroll in a qualifying program. To assist, we’ve included the Assessor’s memo and details on these programs for your reference. While this is not a permanent fix, since the root issue originates with the State of Illinois, it offers a temporary reprieve. The MCR Team remains determined in pursuing long term solutions for the citizens of Montgomery County. We encourage you to attend the Montgomery County Special Board Meeting on Wednesday, November 20th, 2024 at 5:30 PM at The Lodge on Main, 411 S. Main St., Hillsboro. Together, we can make a difference!
